A job posted on the Internet can be cost effective and it can reach a wide audience in a very short period of time. It is important that your job be written in a way to reach the most possible candidates.
- Put key words in the title as well as the body of your job posting. Many Job Seekers conduct key word searches of our Job Database. By including key words in both the title and job details you improve the probability of more candidates viewing your job. Be less concerned with the actual title and stress the function of the title. Example:
Newspaper Ad - Sales Rep
Online Job Posting - Sales Representative for Healthcare Products
- Do not use abbreviations. Unlike newspapers, we do not charge you by the word. You will have better results using whole words.
- The more details you provide will both identify qualified candidates and eliminate those candidates who are not qualified. Be specific on required job skills and minimum levels of experience.
- Use this as an opportunity to sell both the position and your company. List exceptional benefits which separate you from your competitors. It may be that you have flex time or day care facilities.
- Do not use all CAPITAL LETTERS as it is considered SHOUTING. Write in clear, easy to read sentences.
A little extra time in writing Job Posting can greatly increase the number of qualified candidates who respond.
